Buying Meat Online

Whether you are a first-time Puddledub shopper or one of our many regulars, we have pulled together our most asked questions to make buying meat online as stress-free as possible.  If you don't find what you are looking for, then get in touch or call us on 01592 780246.

Q: What is the minimum order value?

We have a minimum online order value of just £25. If your order is over £100 then you will not be charged for delivery. Details can be found on our Delivery page. 

Q: How much should I order portion-wise?

Depending on your appetite position size will vary. However, as a general rule of thumb, we have allowed for 225g (8oz) for a main course portion of meat. For medium-sized boneless joints, allow 225-350g (8-12oz) to provide second helpings.

Q: When will I receive my order?

You will receive your order on or before Friday at 7pm.
Each week, all orders placed before our order deadline of Sunday midnight, will be delivered before end of play on Friday.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE. If you miss our order deadline and place an order after Sunday midnight, your order may not be made up and dispatched until the following Friday.

Q: Why do you only deliver once a week?

Our products are handmade fresh to order in small batches, which is why we currently have an order deadline of Midnight Sunday for delivery before Friday. We care about what we do which is why we rarely freeze our products as we believe delivering fresh is the best way to ensure you get excellent quality and taste.   

Q: How will my order be packaged?

If you have a local delivery it will be delivered in one of our own vehicles under refrigeration in a bag or cardboard box. If your delivery is sent by overnight courier, for example, if you are non-local delivery, then it will be packed in an insulated box with ice packs. 

  Q: What will you do if I am not in?

Don't worry if you are not going to be in to receive your order. However, make sure to input  ‘Delivery instructions’ at the bottom of the page where you submit your personal details, to let us know the safe place that the driver can leave your goods.

Q: What will you do if I am self-isolating?

When you check out online, there is a section ‘Delivery instructions’ at the bottom of the page where you submit your personal details. Please use this to detail that you are self-isolating so we can make the necessary arrangements for your order.

Q: How long will my order stay fresh?

The insulated box we send your produce in, will keep your order at a safe temperature for up to 24 hours. Although the sooner you can unpack the products and get them into your fridge or freezer at home, the better.

Q: How much do you charge for delivery?

We offer free delivery on orders over £100. Otherwise, charges are as follows:

  • Local Delivery (Edinburgh & Fife) £3.95
  • Courier (UK Mainland) £8.95
  • Free click & collect from our Kirkcaldy shop 

Please note these delivery charges apply to one nominated address in the UK mainland only.

Q: What happens if there looks to be a problem with the contents?

Please check your order on arrival and report any damage on delivery. If there is anything you are unhappy with please contact us on 01592 780246 or email us. We care about what we do and we want to ensure that our customers receive only the finest quality products. 

Should an item you ordered be out of stock, you will be notified by email. We can offer a substitute item or recalculate your order.

Q: Can I speak to someone about a potential order?

Absolutely. We are open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am till 6.00 pm, please call us on 01592 780246. If there is no answer, we’re out tending to something on the farm, so please leave a message and we’ll call you back as soon as we can.

Unforeseeable traffic problems, bad weather or other emergencies may force us to postpone or suspend chosen delivery dates and times. If there is a significant delay, we will give you a call or e-mail to update you on your delivery status.
